This is a fantastic time in the NGV’s history and the Gallery is abuzz with activity and excitement.

Two weeks ago, NGV Australia celebrated its two millionth visitor, and on 4 December we officially open our amazing St Kilda Road building, NGV International.

Wednesday, 3 December, NGV International Opening Party

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate one of Melbourne’s great landmark buildings, re-designed and reinvigorated.

Performances include Christine Anu, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, musicians, fire-eaters, African drummers – and more.

Lots of great food and drink.

But most importantly, this is your privileged opportunity to be one of the first to see the NGV’s outstanding International Collection in the newly transformed gallery spaces.

NGV St Kilda Road opening – special members viewing

If you can’t make the party then don’t miss the special members viewing!

Monday 8 December, 6pm – 9pm

Avoid the crowds and enjoy a private viewing of NGV International at St Kilda Road.

Four floors of newly hanged art, including paintings such as Tiepolo's restored Banquet of Cleopatra, Nicholas Poussin's Crossing of the Red Sea and Jackson Pollock's Blue Poles, on loan from the National Gallery of Australia.

Marvel at the Great Hall and Federation Court, reminisce by the Water Wall and don’t forget to check out the new Members’ Room.

No bookings required, but you will need to show your membership card at the Water Wall entrance.

To mark the reopening, the NGV International at St Kilda Road will be open for extended hours – so make sure you come and help us celebrate this amazing new gallery space.
