Fashion Remade At Sofitel Melbourne On Collins

Wed 11 Feb, 6.30–8.30pm

The toile is the initial inspiration of a designer’s ideas in dress design. Traditionally made from calico, cotton or lawn, the toile lets the designer see how the garment will work. Buttons, embellished treatments, ribbons, fabric swatches, can all be a part of the toile. The most important factor for couture is ‘the fit’, ‘the look’ and ‘the style’ to the individual client. Inspired by NGV’s current Remaking Fashion exhibition, Sofitel Melbourne On Collins brings you a salon show in Sofi’s Lounge featuring couturiers including Shirley Keon Couture, Crocé Colosimo, Medwin Couture and Jenny Bannister. See how the toile is created from lengths of cotton throughout the parade, whilst Melbourne’s own couturiers show their original inspiration and the final garment to a discerning audience of fashion followers.
Cost $55 Adult / $50 NGV Member (includes canapés and sparkling wine)
Venue Sofi’s Lounge, Level 1, Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, 25 Collins Street, Melbourne
