Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire – Now showing!
Go beyond your imagination this winter with Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire. This is the first comprehensive retrospective of the work of Salvador Dalí to be staged in Australia. The exhibition traces the genius of Dalí from his earliest years as an exceptionally talented fourteen year old, to the final majestic paintings created when the artist was in his seventies.

The NGV comes alive with a variety of talks, live performances, music, and fine food and wine. The program offers music and performance inspired by the life and travels of Dalí, from vibrant Spanish rhythms to early jazz and the wild and flamboyant theatre of Parisian bohemia.
Cost Free. Admission fees apply for Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire and Introductory Talks (6pm). Students receive $11 exhibition entry after 4pm. Last ticket sales 7.30pm.

With a line up including some of Australia’s finest Latin and jazz musicians, the infectious grooves, fiery solos and rich vocal harmonies from Azucar invoke Dalí’s Spanish heritage. Join us for a swinging salsa lesson from 6.30pm and apply your new dance knowledge in the second set.

Gareth Sansom was the artist selected as the recipient of the 2008 John McCaughey Memorial Prize. His work, Junior’s Brush with Vorticism 2007 features on the current NGV Artbeat Members card. In his latest show at John Buckley Gallery, Sansom explores a variety of theme’s including death, sex, religion, UFOs, graffiti, alchemy, the Crucifix, and the apocalypse.
