Prince Dejatch Alamayou, was the son and heir to Emperor Theodore of Abyssinia. His father died during the Abyssinian war and the young Prince came under the protection of Queen Victoria. The orphaned boy was seven years old when this photograph was taken. He was visiting Queen Victoria at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight.
