The sisters in this photograph are Emily and Mary Peacock who visited the Isle of Wight in the early 1870s. Cameron seems to have been entranced by Emily Peacock as she appears in many other photographs taken during a relatively short period. She is also the model for five photographs that appear in Cameron's illustrations for Alfred, Lord Tennyson's book Idylls of the King and Other Poems.
