In her autobiography, Annals of My Glass House, Julia Margaret Cameron
records Charles and Julia Norman's gift of a camera to her in late 1863.
Charles was the son of George Ward Norman, a wealthy landowner, who had been
at Eton College with Cameron's husband Charles Hay Cameron. Both families
were delighted when Charles Norman married the Cameron's only daughter,
Julia, in 1858.
