The oval platter, designed for wall display, is painted in the centre with a closely packed foliage design in blue and the figure of a man in 17th century dress emerging from a Baroque building and wielding a pair of scissors.The cavetto introduces inscriptions scribbled on in ochre. The border is decorated with a band of laurel leaves punctuated by a horse's head, a trophy, a teapot and a ship.
