22 November 1884 - Club Hotel, Bairnsdale

My dear Father & Mother,

I suppose you will be wondering how we are getting along in our honeymoon trip. So far I can say the enjoyment has been great, the scenery all through Gippsland is really something grand. You should take a trip up here yourselves. Wednesday we stayed in Melbourne. Thursday at Warragul. Friday at Bairnsdale and tonight we intend going on to Roskerville and Lakes Entrance. Will spend the Sunday tomorrow at the 90 Mile Beach in the Southern Ocean. The sight I believe is truly grand. The lakes and rivers up here are really beautiful, full of fish and wild fowl. The hop gardens too are nice, and the shrubbery going along the edge of the rivers and lakes is wonderful. I cant say exactly what day we shall return but feel pretty sure it will not be before Friday.

Arthur and Chris would tell Jim that the wedding passed off nicely. It really seems hard to realise that I’m no longer a batchelor but suppose I’ll grow to believe it in time.

Attended a cake sale this morning at Bairnsdale & felt inclined to buy a lot or two that sold cheap. Had a good walk this morning too over the hop gardens and found out all about the industry.

Rosa is well and sends best love to you all. Intends to be as good a daughter to you as she has been to her feeling father & mother but dear father & mother must stop as the man says the boat is just about to start. I conclude with best of love to all including Arthur and Chris.

Your affectionate son

B Proctor
