Unlike the wooden shields which are carved from wood, this oval shaped shield is made from boar skin stitched together with cane fibre. A solid piece of cane is attached all around the edge then sewn together with split cane piece. Pieces of solid cane are tied in a crisscrossed formation at one end at the back of the shield creating the handle bar.
