NGV Education Programs are designed to educate through art, and promote visual literacy, higher order thinking and communication skills and enhance students’ understanding of themselves and the world in which we live.
Programs are planned and presented by experienced educators. They include floortalks and discussions using original artworks in the gallery, lectures, artmaking workshops and study days, teacher briefings and professional learning days. Programs are regularly updated in response to new exhibitions and audience needs.
NGV Education programs meet the needs of Victorian students and teachers by addressing relevant aspects of the:
- Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework
- Australian Curriculum Victorian Essential Learning Standards (AUSVELS)
- Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
- Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
- International Baccalaureate curriculum (IB)

NGV Education is committed to providing inclusive programs to suit all students. Please discuss your students’ needs with our Educators prior to booking.
NGV Education also offer online and off-site Outreach programs for teachers and students by arrangement, including programs held at regional, rural or remote schools.
NGV Education at the NGV is a strategic partner with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and is supported by the Catholic Education Office.
