This edition of the Art Bulletin of Victoria 46 encompasses essays examining a wide range of works from the collection of the NGV.

Highlights include Hugh Hudson’s discussion of Uccello’s Saint George and the dragon (NGV) and his Annunciation (Ashmolean); Heather Jackson’s analysis of the NGV’s Attic red-figured Lekythos by The Achilles Painter; and an essay on one of the NGV’s Italian Paestum vases by Ian McPhee.

Also included in this issue is an essay by Terence Lane on the life and work of little known German/Australian sculptor Emil Todt, as well as an in depth discussion on the acquisition of Henry Moore’s Draped seated figure and its implications to the acquisition policy of the NGV by Christopher Marshall. The edition also includes an obituary by Peter Perry on the late Dr Eric Westbook, CB, former NGV Director.

We trust you will enjoy the insights offered into our collection through these articles.
