My work explores the inability to comprehend the entirety of our existence – the intricacy, the history, the unfathomable individuality that exists in perception and in thought. I attempted to portray an aspect of memory in photographic form. I used Photoshop to represent the nostalgia and escapism that exists in all our lives; the way we attempt to hold onto something that is not physically there, yearning for something we once had and left behind. I was inspired by photographer Duane Michals, travel, people and my own memories.
