I am fascinated by the way we as passengers strive to isolate ourselves from those around us in our daily commute. For a moment a tram ride is the intermission before we carry on our lives. The tram rattles through the city at night. A man looks out the window, a lone observer of the city that he will soon rejoin. But for this moment he watches the outside world as though it were a show. Using wood carving and paint I created a multifaceted, layered portrait inviting viewers to contemplate, explore and observe a fellow watcher.
