I explored spiritual and biological identity and the way they are interpreted through external perceptions and status. Cultural meaning became my focus. The contrast of the traditionally adorned bodies against various types of modern western footwear reveals how shoes are used for selfexpression in many cultures. By hiding the face, commonly identified as a cultural and identity marker, we shift our focus to the shoes as a means of cultural expression. When certain aspects of our identity are hidden other things come forward to represent who we are.
