I explored the way an individual’s aura can become attached to their environment and creates an atmosphere. I captured the subjects in a natural, spontaneous way. Natural lighting illuminated the scenes, because light is the integral element that dictates the tone of each space. I was inspired by the NGV’s Naked Face exhibition which conveyed how an individual’s personality can be channelled by both their environment and in the objects or art they collect or produce. Portraits by Henri Cartier-Bresson, which expressed a subject’s integrity, also inspired me.
