Inspired by surrealism I chose to create an ambiguous, dreamlike and arresting image. René Magritte’s placement of ordinary objects in unusual contexts inspired me to do something similar. I wanted to provoke thought and alter people’s perceptions, by bringing the subconscious mind into reality. The combination of the animal with the human form expresses my admiration for animals as well as for my family. Graphite pencils enabled me to achieve the detail and realism.
