Melbourne Now countdown – day 25

Today is a very exciting day for publishing at the NGV. Our children’s book for Hotham Street Ladies: A Book for Kids has arrived – hot off the press!  Here is a sneak peek of the colourful, 88-page hardback publication, which takes children on a journey through the artistic practice of Melbourne art collective the Hotham Street Ladies. The book features clever, inspiring activities such as ‘street art’ using icing sugar and piped icing, and creating a kitchen garden with easy-to-follow instructions.

In further exciting news, the NGV’s Melbourne Now limited-edition publication is ‘on press’. Here is our beautiful edition being proofed and printed at Adams Print, Geelong. The publication includes detailed essays, gorgeous reproductions and is designed by prominent Melbourne graphic designers: Hofstede Design, Fabio Ongarato Design, Cato Brand Partners and Ortolan. Additionally, the Melbourne Now title font was designed by Niels Oeltjen for Letterbox, a typographic studio founded by Melbourne’s Stephen Banham. A fold-out poster by artist Brent Harris and designer Jenny Grigg is also included. Numbers of this special collectable edition are very limited.
