During Monet’s 2nd solo exhibition in March, he complains that the press coverage is poor. He initiates his own contacts, including Gustave Geffroy who becomes a close friend. Geffroy writes about Monet in Clemenceau’s journal, La Justice, praising both the poetic imagery and innovative brushwork in the paintings.
