Open Gardens Day

A highlight of the Gallery's calendar is the NGV Women's Association fundraiser, the Open Gardens Day. This year it will be held this Thursday, 20 October. Nine gardens – seven of which have not been on display before to the public – in the Toorak and South Yarra area will be open. Enjoy visiting the old, the new, the manicured lawns, the perennial borders, the courtyards, the grandeur, the beauty of these loved garden spaces. And don't forget the famous NGV Women's Association's stall of home-made produce and pre-loved gardening books.

All proceeds go to the NGV Women's Association for purchasing artworks for the NGV

Lectures and performance

Performance: SHED – the Morris Shed collection

This exciting program combines stories from the NGV's permanent collection, with a multi-arts performance that explores and responds to the idea of collecting. Using 'The Shed' as a metaphor for a place of intrigue and imagination, the event will include a tour and a talk discussing selected objects in the NGV's collection followed by a performance by Company Punctum Inc.

Antony Gormley Lecture – Body Land Identity

A rare opportunity to hear British installation artist Antony Gormley speak about his work and gain insight to his inspiration, ideas and studio practice. This exclusive lecture is part of the opening celebrations of BritPrint, an exhibition which provides a fascinating insight into the great diversity and energy of British art of the 1990s and early 21st century.
