Picasso is leaving Melbourne

There are only 11 days to go until Picasso leaves Melbourne. The successful exhibition Picasso: Love & War 1935 – 1945 must close at 5pm on Sunday 8 October. Don’t miss out!

The exhibition is open 10am – 5pm daily. You can also catch the last days of Picasso during art after dark when the exhibition is open until 9pm Wednesday and until midnight from Thursday 5 October – Saturday 7 October.

Buy a PICASSO Letter!


The illuminated PICASSO lettering (pictured above) has greeted visitors to NGV International for the duration of Picasso: Love & War and has quickly become one of Melbourne’s greatest tourist attractions! The letters are set to go under the hammer as part of NGV Contemporary’s annual fundraising party.

Along with a number of other rare and exclusive experiences and items up for auction, the letters from the PICASSO sign will be auctioned at the party on 5 October 2006. You don't need to attend the event to bid. Bids can be made by contacting 03 8620 2413 or deborah.hart@ngv.vic.gov.au.

Charles Blackman is one of Australia’s most important living artists. Following an Australia-wide search, 43 of Blackman’s 46 paintings from the Alice in Wonderland series are reunited in this Melbourne-exclusive exhibition.

Brook Andrew is an interdisciplinary artist known for his perspective in unveiling different historical ‘truths’. This Melbourne International Arts Festival commission draws its inspiration from the Melbourne Museum’s collection of Australian birds and imagery from early 20th century anthropological expeditions – whose focus was collecting Aboriginal cultural objects from Western Victoria and NSW.
