Exhibitions closing this month

This month, two key exhibitions will close at the NGV. Juan Davila at NGV International must close this Sunday at 5pm, and Howard Arkley, at NGV Australia will close on 25 February. Don’t miss out!

Hurry! Last week to see Juan Davila

There are only a few days left to catch Juan Davila. This major solo exhibition examines the work of one of Australia’s most innovative and influential painters. Juan Davila’s complex, beautiful and challenging paintings are known for their interrogation of cultural, sexual and social identities. This exhibition is organised & toured by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.

Howard Arkley

Most commonly known as a painter of Australian suburbia, Howard Arkley derived his inspiration from many sources. Visit Howard Arkley and examine the influences behind many of his iconic, airbrushed works – including punk music, architecture, patterning and design, comics, tattooing and the history of art.

Buddha 2550 years – The Exhibition

An extraordinary exhibition showcasing hundreds of Buddha images opens in Melbourne Town Hall on 26 February to celebrate Buddha’s 2,550th birthday. This display includes sacred relics of Shakyamuni Buddha, statues from major temples in Victoria and paintings from illustrious Buddhist artists. Daily activities include blessings, meditation, Dharma talks, tea ceremonies, calligraphy and daily Curatorial tours. The 4 March closing will feature a lantern festival at Federation Square.
