  • Seminar: Salvador Dalí and Catalonia
    Sat 12 Sep, 2–4.30pm
    Sponsored by the Casal Català de Victòria. Coinciding with the Catalan National Day (11 Sep), this seminar will explore Dalí’s life and art in relation to his native Catalonia: its culture, traditions, artistic heritage and landscape. The seminar will include a brief history of Catalans in Melbourne and a short poetry recital, in Catalan and English translation, to convey the flavour of Catalan culture.

    Every Wednesday until 30 Sep, the NGV comes alive with a variety of talks, live performances, music, and fine food and wine. The program offers music and performance inspired by the life and travels of Dalí.
    Cost Free. Admission fees apply for Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire and Introductory Talks (6pm). Students receive $11 exhibition entry after 4pm. Last ticket sales at 7.30pm.

      Grab your waltz partner as the wild and flamboyant, rowdy and romantic Rapskallion invoke scenes reminiscent of '20s Parisian bohemia. Add a pinch of hip hop, vaudevillian sensibilities, a curly moustache, and a startling array of hats, Rapskallion will inspire with their mix of quirky lyricism and accordion driven dance tunes!

    • 6.30pm Performance: The House of Burlesque Vaudeville Extravaganza
      A flamboyant show inspired by Dalí’s muse, Gala and the artists' fascination with the subconscious and dreams.
