Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire

Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire traces the genius of Dalí: from his earliest years as a fourteen year-old, to the final paintings created when the artist was in his seventies.  In the first comprehensive retrospective to be held in Australia, see more than 200 works across all media including painting, drawing, watercolour, etchings, jewellery, sculpture, fashion, cinema and photography.

    Grab your waltz partner as the wild and flamboyant, rowdy and romantic Rapskallion invoke scenes reminiscent of 20s Parisian bohemia. Add a pinch of hip hop, vaudevillian sensibilities, a curly moustache, and a startling array of hats, Rapskallion will inspire with their mix of quirky lyricism and accordion driven dance tunes!

Coinciding with the Catalan National Day (11 Sep), this seminar will explore Dalí’s life and art in relation to his native Catalonia: its culture, traditions, artistic heritage and landscape. The seminar will include a brief history of Catalans in Melbourne and a short poetry recital, in Catalan and English translation, to convey the flavour of Catalan culture.
