NGV Members

NGV Members is the main supporter group of the National Gallery of Victoria.

NGV Members (formerly The National Gallery Society of Victoria) is the largest supporter group of the National Gallery of Victoria. Established 56 years ago, this important part of the NGV community has always been dedicated to the Gallery's endeavours, exhibitions and events. Over the years, NGV Members has provided funding for the purchase of works of art.  

In the late 1990s, the former National Gallery Society of Victoria underwent the transition from being an entirely separate entity, with its own constitution, to operating as a department within the NGV. NGV Members has retained its member-elected Committee, which also consists of representation from the NGV Board of Trustees.

The emphasis of NGV Members has also shifted from raising funds for works of art to that of supporting the operations of the Gallery. It also uses subscription revenue to reinvest in the quality and diversity of benefits and activities that it offers its members, which will serve the ultimate purpose of increasing the audience engagement of the NGV.

NGV Members is now entering one of the most interesting and challenging periods of its history.
