This tough work by Samantha Hobson hits out against the problem of domestic violence and alcohol abuse, which effects the lives of young women in Lockhart River community, as the artist explains in her statement about the work.
"It all starts when there's parties... people get drunk... people get jealous over other people... woman and man fight... probably woman jealous of man for another woman or man jealous for another man for his woman... we call 'im flower means jealous man. They bust 'im up... community police come and take that man away and lock 'im up... woman goes to hospital... they send her to shelter... no good.
Seems like every big night, Thursday, Friday night, specially at canteen and parties, man and woman fight... go back next day sometime. If real bad that fella go to jail. Lot of Lockhart fella in Lotus. Sometime they stop there for a few months, year, must be beer makes people go off their head."
