The artist represents Miramirratjarra, his birthplace. Miramirratjarra is a very significant site in Spinifex country. It is almost in the centre of the Native Title Claim area and was the place chosen to invite the WA State Premier to visit when the framework agreement for negotiations that provided parameters for the claim was signed. Miramirratjarra is a huge sandhill area that has permanent soak. In the old days it was a most it was a most precious resource because the water was absolutely reliable. It is known as a very dangerous place, which the people undertake very clearly defined protocols to visit. It is a site inhabited by an especially dangerous wanampi (Water Snake) that successfully fought with the wati kutjarra (Two Men), a story that ranges across much of the broader Western Desert region. Only senior people with direct responsibility to this country can represent the site, which is secret sacred.
