Haasts Bluff, also known as Ikuntji is an Aboriginal community 230 kilometres west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
The area is home to the Luritja people who have strong associations with other Western Desert peoples, including Western Arrernte, Ngalia, Kukatja, Pitjantjatjara and Pintupi.
In 1992 artists at Haasts Bluff, familiar with Papunya Tula painting, arranged for Haasts Bluff council to allocate funds to employ an arts centre co-ordinator to work at Ikuntji Arts. The centre, which had been built using an ATSIC capital works grant in 1981, grew and developed under the guidance of Marina Strocchi, the first art co-ordinator.
