What is a podcast?
The term ‘podcast’, like ‘radio’, describes both the content and method of delivery.
A podcast is a multimedia file that can be downloaded from the internet for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.
You can subscribe to podcasts via an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. This is the underlying technology used for podcasts. It is capable of containing any type of media including audio, video, graphics and more. It allows you to subscribe to your favorite programs on the internet and receive the most updated programs.
How do I access a podcast?
You will need access to the internet and podcasting software. Some examples of popular software includes iTunes, Odeo, and iPodder. Many can be downloaded from the internet for free.
This software allows you to receive updated media files via RSS feeds. It allows you to store, sort, play and transfer media files to portable media players such as iPods or Juice.
How do I subscribe?
The purpose of subscription is to receive most recent episodes of the program. Your playlist will be updated whenever your computer is connected to the internet.
To subscribe to the podcast feeds, download podcasting software and add the RSS feed.
