Following a visit to the factory of haute couture fabric manufacturer Jakob Schlaepfer in St Gallen, a small town in Switzerland, Guo Pei visited the Cathedral of Saint Gall. Captivated by the spectacular dome paintings and murals she encountered, the Chinese fashion designer was inspired to create her Legend collection and spent the next eighteen months working with Jakob Schlaepfer to design a bespoke fabric.

What was it about the 18th Century Cathedral that captured the imagination of Guo Pei, and how is it reflected in her creations?
