No other human activity creates as much waste as construction, but what can architects and builders do about it? Experts from Arup Foresight, Research and Innovation present a workshop on designing zero-waste buildings. Circular economy is not a principle, but a set of questions to ask: material flow analysis, mapping use and supply chains, identifying industrial symbiosis opportunities with suppliers, or leasing products instead of buying.
Circular Thinking: Design Your Own Zero Waste Building is part of a series of hands-on workshops presented by Assemble Papers to communicate the principles of circular economy at a variety of scales. Starting from individual choices to encompass the global waste system, the series brings experts from across product design, urban design and urban management to guide participants through the steps towards zero waste.
