Daniel Boetker-Smith is the Director of the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive, the only dedicated library of Asia-Pacific photobooks in the world. The Archive is a not-for-profit organisation based in Melbourne that travels to events and festivals globally showing photobooks from this region, promoting the work of emerging and established Asia-Pacific photographers. He is also co-founder of the hugely successful Photobook Melbourne Festival (held for the first time in Feb 2015), the only photobook festival in the Asia-Pacific region.
Daniel’s talk, ‘Zen and the Art of Photobooks’, will discuss photobooks and photographic publishing with particular focus on our geographic location. He will introduce the history, rise and future of the photobook from this part of the world, and will show the work of some photographers and publishers who are leading the way.
