Brave New World: Australia 1930s will reveal the complex forces at play in a decade of anxiety and anticipation for Australia. In the grips of the enervating Depression, Australians were also grappling with the looming threat of another World War and anxieties regarding the inexorable push into modernity. This exhibition examines the creative output of a turbulent decade for Australia in a showcase of Surrealism, Expressionism, and Abstraction.
