Members Workshop: Creating Collage with Louise Paramor

NGV International
Meet: North Entrance, (via Arts Centre forecourt)
Ground Level

Learn to create 2D collages using plastic as artist Louise Paramor leads a hands-on art making workshop inspired by her colourful plastic assemblages on display in Louise Paramor: Palace of the Republic.

Workshop Outline

Introduction
Louise Paramor will provide a brief presentation about her two-dimensional work, introducing different ways of producing constructed imagery.

Exercise 1: How to have a ‘microscopic’ eye
Participants will learn how to look at objects with ‘microscopic’ eyes, in order to find pleasing abstract viewpoints. Utilising simple techniques with pencil, tracing paper, scissors and coloured paper, Louise will direct people into constructing colourful abstract collages.

Exercise 2: Constructing collage
Participants will set up their own ‘still life’ from an arrangements of objects to construct a series of collages.

Exercise 3: Class collage
Participants select their favourite work from the evening to be attached to the wall to create an overall class collage.

Please note participants are encouraged to bring iPads or smart phones to assist in image planning.
