Bach X Reimagined
Live performances at 6.30pm, 7.30pm & 8.30pm
Presented by anon.
‘when I am listening to Bach I frequently get inspired and feel an overwhelming instinct for his insistent rhythm, a cadence seeking something of the infinite.’ – M. C. Escher
Inspired by composer Johann Sebastian Bach’s repetitious compositions, Escher’s art of infinite tessellations mirrors Bach’s music. Referencing this parallel, creative collaboration anon. brings together Australian composers and performing artists to reimagine the works of Bach with live performances, new compositions across baroque, classical and jazz styles and a specially commissioned soundscape.

6–8pm INDIAN SUMMER
Indian Summer has become a house-hold name in electronic music of late, receiving Hype Machine #1’s for his ‘Late Night’ and ‘Shiner’ EPs… not to mention support from Pete Tong, Motez, What So Not and Nina Las Vegas on tracks like ‘Love Like This’, ‘Right At Home’ and ‘Been Here Before’. One of Australia’s hardest-working producers, he was also recently invited in for a string of triple j guest mixes and had the chance to take over Sydney’s Mixmag Lab.
8–10pm JONTI (DJ SET)
Jonti began assembling music after his departure from South Africa to Australia. Spending countless hours studying records like they were books, processing each song, this became Jonti’s music school, testing his theories on a 4-track recorder. As Jonti started putting out his bedroom recordings, they started making their way across the globe. With an array of collaborations that have taken Jonti across the world, sharing stages and studio spaces with his newfound peers, the producer has recorded with Badbadnotgood, Mark Ronson, The Avalanches, Gotye, Hodgy Beats, King Krule, Jagwar Ma and Warpaint, receiving co-signs from from the likes of Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler the Creator, James Blake, Questlove and Toro Y Moi.
Wander through NGV’s 2018 Architecture Commission Doubleground and discover chasm-like passageways, tilted embankments and a bamboo garden inspired by the building’s original Bamboo Court. Designed by Muir architecture and Openwork.
