Artist statement
I was interested in creating an illusion on the body. When worn, the piece’s identity as ‘jewellery’ dissolves as our eyes are drawn to a fluttering butterfly. What was once purely an artefact is now transformed into an entity that seeks a symbiotic relationship with its wearer. The life it acquires from the body’s movements disguises its artificiality.
