Artist statement

I don't believe in just designing beautiful objects; I experiment with materials to create holistic design solutions. It is not a matter of form versus function; good design is both simultaneously.

As a designer I often draw on nature and the world around me for inspiration. The design's simple flexible structure was largely influenced by the human spine and its unique range of motion. Flex was designed as a modern, stylish alternative to the common cloth hammock. The wooden segments allow the hammock to flex and mould to form a wooden cocoon, cradling the body of the individual user.

The flexible nature of the rubber joints allow the hammock to be rolled up for easy storage.
