Artist statement
The George Jr was developed from a concept that reflects current social issues and trends. The use of sustainable material, an efficient manufacturing process and flat-pack transportation, have been considered throughout the design development process. George Jr represents the changes people are making to their lifestyle as a reaction to climate change awareness. Its aesthetic shape has been inspired by traditional furniture, which represents status in western culture. Sustainability and status both provide a feeling of self-worth, as one feels good for doing something positive for the environment and for looking good in the environment.
George Jr is a handsome gentleman's chair. He is easy to assemble with thirteen plywood pieces which simply slot together – no glue or hardware required! George Jr is a lightweight, low cost, transportable, eco-friendly, sturdy and perfectly comfortable chair.
