This education resource accompanies the exhibition Guggenheim Collection: 1940s to Now (2007) which featured iconic artworks from the internationally renowned Guggenheim collection. The resource focuses on nine key styles/periods/ themes to provide an overview of major developments and ideas in American and European art from the 1940s to the present day. These include abstraction, figuration, Minimalism and Post- Minimalism, Pop art, The Legacy of Pop and Contemporary art. Each section includes a discussion of relevant artworks and learning activities to encourage practical art making and critical/analytical discussion of artworks and art ideas. A glossary of terms is also included.
