StArt Up: Top Arts 2014

Being selected for Top Arts has been something I aspired to since Year 11. It was a goal I upheld throughout Year 12 and it is with an immense sense of gratitude and privilege that my artworks have been chosen for exhibition.

Art has always played an important role in my life; it provides me with a sense of freedom, an escape and an opportunity to express my imagination in fluid, creative and unique ways. Throughout Year 12, art allowed to me to travel to the depths of the unknown and really evoke a part of myself into my linocuts.

Applying for Top Arts was overall a nerve-racking and exhilarating experience, and discovering my artworks were shortlisted was something beyond anything I imagined. That itself was a dream come true.

Knowing that only a small percentage of the total number of applicants get short listed for the exhibition meant being in the final running for inclusion in the exhibition was great acknowledgement of my work. Upon discovering my artworks had made it through to the final selection and for display in  StArt Up: Top Arts 2014, I was in utter disbelief. All my hard work and dedication had paid off.

Having my artworks exhibited and just having the privilege to be chosen and join a group of emerging artists gave me a deep sense of honour and reward that I hold close to my heart. Leading up to Tops Arts, I am both excited and nervous to see what the experience entails.

I look forward to seeing an exciting array of different styles of art and am honored that my linocuts will be among them.
