Members Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Gallery opening hours?
NGV International is open from 10am–5pm and closed on Tuesdays
(except during major exhibitions where extended opening hours apply).
The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia is open from 10am–5pm and
closed on Mondays (except during major exhibitions where extended
hours apply).
Both Galleries are open public holidays except: Good Friday,
Christmas Day and open at 1pm ANZAC Day.
The NGV Members Lounges are open from 10am–4.30pm
during Gallery opening hours. Extended hours apply during late
night openings.
Forgotten your Member card?
Please come to the Members Lounge for a temporary card to enable
you to access your full benefits during your visit to the NGV.
I’ve lost my card/my card has been stolen.
Please call us on 8620 2233 / 8662 1522 to order a new card.
There is a $5 administration fee for lost or stolen cards.
How do I find out about all Members Programs and Events?
Gallery magazine highlights all Member events & programs for all
NGV exhibitions. Our easy to use calendar (included with Gallery
magazine) lists these in date order as well.
The NGV What’s On Guide is also available online at ngv.vic.gov.au
How do I book for Members Programs or Events?
Our bookings office is open from 10am–5pm seven days a week.
The booking number is 8662 1555.
You can also book events & programs in person at Members Reception,
or fax your Program Application form from Gallery magazine
to 8662 1533.
Remember to book early for programs as many book out very quickly.
Cancellations and refunds for events & programs?
An administration fee of $5 is applicable for all cancelled tickets.
Please be advised that a refund will be issued for tickets returned seven
days prior to the program date. In the event that a program is cancelled
you will be notified immediately and a full refund will be issued.
Can I take a non Member to a Member free viewing of an exhibition or
an Exclusive Member preview?
Previews and Free Viewings are for NGV Members only.
Non Members can join at these events to receive this benefit.
Can I add someone to my Membership or upgrade my Membership?
Yes. Adding a new Member can occur at any time during a Membership.
This will incur a cost, which would be the difference between
Membership types. The new member will be valid until the end of the
existing Membership.
Can an NGV Membership be cancelled or suspended?
No. NGV Membership is non refundable. The expiry date of an annual
Membership subscription cannot be suspended or extended past the
expiry date stipulated on the Membership.
