Make a bequest to the NGV
A bequest to the NGV is a generous way of making a lasting contribution to the Collection and activities of the NGV for the benefit of future generations. Bequests to the Gallery, at any size, assist to strengthen and develop the Collection.
Bequests are managed by the NGV Foundation and we are happy to discuss with you any special areas of interest. Your bequest will be used solely to acquire works of art for the Collection or for your nominated purpose.
How to make a bequest to the NGV
We invite you to make a notified bequest in your Will. You can do this by:
- Writing a letter to the NGV advising of your intention to make a bequest
- Providing a copy of the relevant extract from your Will, and
- Providing a confirming letter from your solicitor
We strongly recommend that you seek professional advice from your solicitor or financial adviser in arranging a bequest. If you are considering leaving the NGV a gift of art, we encourage you to contact the Foundation. The NGV acquires work of art in line with its collections policy and our curators can discuss the NGV’s collecting needs.
The National Gallery of Victoria acknowledges those who have made a notified bequest to the Gallery through the NGV Foundation, at the appropriate level. Others may wish to remain anonymous and the Gallery respects these wishes.
All those who have made a notified bequest will be invited to join the Felton Society.
The Felton Society
The most celebrated and enduring bequest ever received by the NGV is indisputably that of Alfred Felton. To honour this great philanthropist, the NGV has established The Felton Society.
The Felton Society represents and acknowledges the special group of people who have made a commitment to the gallery by including the NGV in their Will. It maintains an active program and close connection with the life of the NGV.
