NGV: Olivia
what are you doing this year?
O:
Well this year I am still at school at Leongatha SC. I am studying a bit
of arts a bit of media, mainly just to help build up my folio and go to
university.
NGV: So you're at year 12 this year?
O:
Yeah,
so it's a big year!
NGV:
With regard to your work that you last year, did you have difficulty finding
something to work on?
O:
No I didn't actually, because I've always had an
interest in dreams. That was my topic and in year 10 I was doing an anthology,
so that helped create this theme and I just love finding out about dreams
and the spiritual aspects of dreaming and the mysteries...and also it
kind of reflects my work.
NGV: So
for the piece of work that has made it into Top Arts. It was basically
dreams that influenced you when starting this piece?
O:
And also I think dreams have a double meaning. It reflects on your life.
|
NGV: So
your work almost reveals something that's there and maybe not there at
the same time?
O:
Yeah!
Say you have something on your mind and it's troubling you. You seem to
dream about it.

NGV: Very
courageous thing to do, put your dreams down on paper.
O:
I suppose...I would go home and wonder what I will dream tonight.
NGV: Interesting,
having deciding on that thing did any particular artist inspire you?
O:
Being out in the country we didn't go to many galleries or museums.
Mr Paul Satchell, my teacher, he just brought up a few prints and mainly
most of them are Jeff Ficados. So I guess he influenced me in a way, with
the one called Tiger. Where he scratched the back and that kind of highlighted
it.
