Exhibition Context
Aims and objectives of the exhibition are to:
- celebrate the achievements of young artists
- showcase outstanding student achievement in VCE Art and Studio Arts, across Victorian school sectors
- provide curriculum support through complimentary educational programs and resources including new learning technologies
- provide professional development for teachers
- facilitate links between regional galleries, cultural centres and schools
- establish links between secondary and tertiary art education across Victoria
- develop dialogue between schools, community, education providers, NGV, the business sector and industry
- initiate and foster an Australia wide network for student exhibitions
- engender appreciation and commitment to the arts and art education for future generations
Exhibition partners
Top Arts VCE 2007 is a collaborative project between the National Gallery of Victoria, The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, the Catholic Education Office, and the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria. Once again this year’s major sponsor Goldman Sachs JB Were will be providing the popular “People’s Choice Award”.
Other VCE Season of Excellence 2008 events
Top Arts VCE 2007 is a major component of the VCE Season of Excellence 2008 which also includes Top Designs at Melbourne Museum, Top Class at the National Theatre in St Kilda and the ABC Awaki Auditorium, Top Screen at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, and Top Acts at Hamer Hall, the Arts Centre. These events allow schools and the community to celebrate the creativity and skills of young people.
