Video Art Scene Switzerland is an exhibition consisting of 11 works created since 1995 by 13 contemporary Swiss artists. Video technology has been used by artists around the world since the early 1960s. Improvements in the technical aspects of the equipment have contributed to the mediums longevity and it persists today as a popular medium that is readily accessible for many artists.
Each of the practitioners in this exhibition has taken a distinct approach to the creation of their work, some relying on 'antiquated' video technology while others employ state of the art computer aids. The inspiration for the works varies for each artist. The themes range from the personal to the universal. This exhibition provides a taste of the diversity of practice that is occurring today in Switzerland.
