Biography

Katherine Wheeler is a Central Victorian artist who works with silver, porcelain, paper and thread to create sculptural jewellery and hollow-ware. Her work is influenced by her immediate surroundings, traditional crafts and life and death in the natural world. In 2007 Wheeler completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT, Melbourne.

In 2010 she co-founded the jewellery and object design business Golden Ink Collaborative, which she ran for two years. Wheeler now works from her studio in Castlemaine and exhibits both locally and internationally. She has exhibited in numerous exhibitions in Melbourne since 2003, and her work was included in the exhibition Melbourne Hollow Ware, 2009, Gallery Marzee, Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and in the 2012 SOFA expositions in Chicago and New York. Wheeler is represented by Charon Kransen Arts, New York, Gallery Aloft, Sydney, and Studio 20/17, Sydney.
