Physical description
Taro Yamamoto is a young contemporary Japanese artist who is well versed in Japanese literature and historical themes. His works of art are insightful observations of modern day Japan that combine popular trends, fashions and feelings of the young generation with historical culture and works of art. This work from his fan series of the changing seasons depicts summer and the recreational pastime of boating down a gently flowing river surrounded by lush foliage. Yamamoto has created a whimsical and humorous parody of this traditional scene by replacing the river leisure boat with a child’s plastic bathtub toy.
