FAQ

How do I check in to the NGV?

Visitors over 12 years and two months must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid medical exemption, in line with the Chief Health Officer’s Directions.

On arrival, visitors will be asked to check in using the Service Victoria app.

  1. Open the Service Victoria app on your phone
  2. Scan our venue QR code, which will be visible on signage near our entries
  3. Click the ‘check in’ button. (You can also check in any accompanying children at this step)
  4. Keep the two green ticks visible on your phone screen
  5. At the entry, our staff will ask to see your phone and will check for the two green ticks

To make things as easy as possible for you and for our staff, we ask that you please link your COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service Victoria app before your visit.

What if I don’t have the Service Victoria app?

Our strong recommendation is for visitors to check in using the Service Victoria app. The app allows you to complete two steps at once: it demonstrates that you are fully vaccinated and registers you for contact tracing. Both steps are required to visit NGV. If you cannot check in using the Service Victoria app, our staff will ask you to complete these two steps separately:

  1. Our staff will ask to see evidence that you are fully vaccinated. Acceptable evidence is:
    • A COVID-19 digital certificate displayed through the Medicare App, the Service Victoria App or equivalent smartphone wallet; or
    • A printed version of the COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement issued by the vaccination provider, a medical practitioner or the Australian Immunisation Register.

To get a printed copy of your COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement, you can call the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809.

If you are using a printed version as evidence, our staff may also ask you to show photo ID.

  2. Our staff will register you for contact tracing. They will ask you to record your name and contact phone number electronically on our device using the Victorian Government’s Kiosk function, or manually using pen and paper.

What if I’ve been fully vaccinated overseas?

We look forward to welcoming fully vaccinated international travellers. Acceptable evidence is:

  • a copy of your Australian Traveller Declaration or COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Declaration for travel to Australia; AND
  • a copy of a paper or digital certificate that shows you have been fully vaccinated with a vaccine recognised by Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration.
The certificate must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation and must contain the following information:

  • your name as it appears in your passport
  • your date of birth or passport number
  • the vaccine brand name
  • the date of each dose or the date on which a full course of immunisation was completed.

We can also accept an Australian International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.

Our staff may ask you to show photo ID.

What if I have a medical exemption?

If you have a medical exemption, please let our staff know. They will ask to see evidence of your medical exemption.

Acceptable evidence is:

  • a COVID-19 digital certificate issued by Services Australia and displayed through the Medicare App, Service Victoria App or equivalent smartphone wallet that states you are unable to receive a dose, or a further dose, of any COVID-19 vaccine that is available in Australia.
  • a printed version of the COVID-19 digital certificate.

If you are using a printed version as evidence, our staff may also ask you to show photo ID.
