Eko Nugroho’s exhibition installation, 2012, is about,”people itself”, addressing themes of tolerance and multiculturalism. For Nugroho, the process is an important part of his practice and explains his process of the embroidered piece, La Rue Parle 6, and how it gave his images new meaning.
Eko Nugroho is a member of the art community that centres on the vibrant central Java city of Yogyakarta in Indonesia. Nugroho works across diverse media; creating paintings, murals and handmade comic books, contemporary updates of the tradition of shadow puppet theatre, and collaborations with local craftspeople to produce embroideries.
