NGV Friday Nights returns this summer during Keith Haring | Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines, paying homage to the 1980s and New York downtown. DJs spotlight an 80s music moment each week, mixed in with drag performances, classic cocktails and New York City street food.

Keith Haring | Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines presents the work of two of the most significant and influential artists of the late twentieth century, revealing fascinating insights into their unique visual languages and the many intersections between their lives, practices and ideas. KAWS: Companionship in the Age of Loneliness is not open during NGV Friday Nights.

80s Disco | DJ Manchild
DJ Manchild brings his inventive mixing and left-field selections to NGV Friday nights, curating a unique set of 80s disco. With a diverse knowledge of disco, funk, gospel, African and South American records, DJ Manchild is a frequent name in festivals like Golden Plains, Inner Varnika, Freedom Time, Wave Rock and the legendary Boogie for a decade.

Senior NGV Curator Miranda Wallace considers how both Haring and Basquiat appropriated and adapted symbols and signs from the world around them to create a unique image-language in their works.

Nicole Misha brings an expansive DJ set to survey the history of 80s soul and funk, toggling seamlessly between house, italo and disco to the tell-tale vinyl crackle.
