Frame

Friendly critics by Constance Jenkins was without a frame when the painting was restored in 2010.  Details of the painting as it first appeared were found initially in 2009 among the papers of Bernard Hall (Director of the NGV 1891-35).  In 2010, an article was located in a copy of 'New Idea' from 1909 which showed the painting and complete frame.  Images of the frame were scaled up and the profile extrapolated from the various images.

The painting was fitted in the completed reproduction frame in 2011.
